Finance and Property Officer
The Australian Embassy in Riyadh is seeking a highly capable Finance and Property Officer to provide financial, property and travel coordination support to ensure the smooth day to day operations of the Embassy. This is a Locally Engaged Staff (LES) position. The starting salary for this position (LE3-1) will be SAR 9,549.96 per month in addition to 3 months’ salary for housing allowances and a months’ salary for Eid bonus among other terms and benefits.
The successful candidate may be required to leave Saudi Arabia on a final exit visa and return on a new work visa sponsored by the Australian Embassy.
Please be advised that the Australian Embassy in Riyadh does not assist with relocation. Any costs associated with taking up the position would be the responsibility of the successful candidate.

About The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade
The role of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) is to advance the interests of Australia and Australians internationally. This involves strengthening Australia’s security, enhancing Australia’s prosperity, delivering an effective and high-quality overseas aid program and helping Australian travellers and Australians overseas. The department provides foreign, trade and development policy advice to the Australian Government. DFAT also works with other Australian government agencies to drive coordination of Australia’s pursuit of global, regional and bilateral interests.
About the position
The Property and Accounts Officer is responsible for providing financial, property and travel coordination support to ensure the smooth day to day operations of the Embassy. Working under the general supervision of the Senior Accountant and Corporate Services Manager, and in accordance with DFAT’s policies and procedures, the role supports accurate financial processing, delivers a range of property related services, coordinates travel arrangements, and contributes to the effective delivery of corporate services, as required.
Key responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
- Prepare and process accounts payables and accounts receivable using SAP, ensuring compliance with departmental financial procedures and guidelines.
- Process bank collections and maintain accurate vendor, customer, receivable and advance records in accordance with the Financial Management Information System (FMIS) and SAP procedures.
- Act as signing officer for the Embassy’s bank account transactions, issue cheques and debit notes where required.
- Maintain and file all financial, travel and property related documentation in the Embassy’s Electronic Document Records Management System in accordance with departmental guidelines and ensure all leased property records and update all property acquisitions and leases in the appropriate databases.
- Provide administrative and operational support to the Senior Accountant, including responding to enquiries and assisting with finance and travel coordination duties as required.
- Assist the Corporate Services Manager with the management of residential accommodation for A-based officers, including arranging new leases and lease renewals, obtaining quotations, and liaising with landlords to ensure value for money and compliance with departmental guidelines.
- Conduct handover/takeover inspections of all A-based residences and maintain accurate inventories and documentation in accordance with departmental guidelines.
- Provide back-up IT support to the IT & Security Manager as required.
Qualifications/Experience/Knowledge/Skills
- Demonstrated ability to provide effective routine administrative and operational support in a finance and corporate services environment.
- Good knowledge of contemporary accounting principles and practices and/or recent experience in financial management.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet established deadlines while working to agreed procedures and instructions.
- Ability to work reliably within a small team under guidance and supervision, contributing to day‑to‑day operations.
- Demonstrated capacity to apply discretion and sound judgement when handling administrative and financial matters, including escalating issues when required.
- Sound interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.

Professional proficiency in English and Arabic is desirable, with strong written and verbal communication skills in both languages.

Good working knowledge of standard office software applications, including Microsoft Office.
