From 1 January 2016 the following changes will apply:
Increased passport fees will apply. Please contact the Embassy for the most current fee.
There will be a discrete application fee for emergency passports. Emergency passports will still be processed within two business days where possible and once all required documentation has been provided.
From 1 January 2016, child applicants aged 16 or 17 will be issued with a 10-year passport instead of the five-year passport currently issued to children under 18. Applications must still include parental consent, and they must be personally lodged by the applicant together with a parent. The application fee will be the same as for adults, reflecting the longer validity of the passport to be issued. For more information about child passport applications, check the passport website: https://www.passports.gov.au/
Children and persons aged 75 years and over are no longer eligible for frequent traveller passports.
From 1 July 2015 the Australian Embassy in Riyadh will only be able to accept passport applications lodged in person, subject to the limited exceptions which will apply in extreme circumstances, such as war or natural disaster. Children do not have to attend the lodgement interview. However, at least one person with parental responsibility for the child must lodge the application in person and provide proof of their identity.
From 1 July 2015 a new overseas application fee (overseas surcharge) will apply to all full validity adult (including senior) and child passport applications lodged overseas. The ‘overseas surcharge’ is in addition to the standard application fee, including the lost/stolen fee (if applicable).
Additional application fees for an Australian passport overseas
75 years and over: $100.00
You will usually be required to pay the equivalent amount in local currency at the prevailing exchange rate.
All passport fees are payable in Saudi Riyals at the nominated exchange rate which changes monthly. Please contact the Embassy for the most current fee.
